Sharon F. Matusik, Ph. D. - University of Colorado – Boulder

Sharon Matusik is on faculty at the University of Colorado-Boulder (CU) and received her Ph.D. from the University of Washington.  Her current research focuses on entrepreneurial and venture capital firms.  She has examined a wide range of  topics including how IPO markets value innovation activities of firms, how much variance in the performance of entrepreneurial firms is attributable being associated with a venture capitalist, and how the diversification of a venture capital firm (i.e., the different industries it invests in) affects the performance of the venture firm. Sharon’s work has been published in journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review and Journal of Management and is widely cited in the management field.  She is also the Director of the University of Colorado’s Doctoral program in Strategic, Organizational, and Entrepreneurial Studies and is on the Editorial Board of two of the top academic journals in the field of management, Academy of Management Journal and Academy of Management Review.   Sharon is also the Associate Program Chair for the Knowledge and Innovation group at the upcoming Strategic Management Society annual meeting.

Sharon’s teaching interests are in the area of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship.  She currently teaches the core MBA Strategic Management course and an Honor Seminar in Entrepreneurship to MBA students.  In addition, she has taught extensively at the undergraduate, Ph.D., and executive level.  Her teacher effectiveness ratings consistently place her in the top 10% of all business school faculty.
